After stomping Portsmouth's ass flat 3-0 by halftime, Chelsea realised that there's no point in beating a donkey that's already dead. So we played defensively and at a slower more relaxed pace for the 2nd half and earned our three points. Kicking Man United's ass out of the Carling Cup also brings much satisfaction to an already exhilarating season. I caught this game at an unearthly 4am and then left for work in a zombie-like state.. it took me 3 Gold Roast coffee and 1 lunch break to recover half of my consciousness. Taking nothing away from Man U, they played like champions.. but there can be only one champion, which is The Blues. Our side fought hard and sucked up the pressure. Knowing that if we score, it will be an advantageous away goal. Hitting them on the counter attack and capitalising on their individual (credit to them, very few) errors, we left Man U one less trophy to worry about. Makelele, Tiago, Bridge, Gallas and Ferreira deserve special mentions. They were the ones working tirelessly throughout and are the unsung heroes who contributed to an outstanding solid defence. Overall it was a job very well done and it was worthed waking up early for. And as usual we look to our own improvement as we train for the weekend's FA Cup tie against Birmingham. I expect some regulars to be rested for this one.
Mind games are interesting as a fuel to ignite interest and spark emotion before a game. But Arsene Wenger doesn't know when to stop. The latest being Chelsea plays boring football and wearies out the opponent before killing them off. Jose Mourinho minds his own business and is immune to Wenger's immaturity. Fergie has more or less given up on mind games knowing that Mourinho would rather shit needles out his ass than to give a damn what Fergie thinks. Wenger's persistence to claw at Chelsea's team spirit and confidence is as amusing as it is sad. He knows the premiership title is beyond him, and it is on its way to Stamford Bridge as we speak.
Come on you blues.
