End of Season

Chelsea's season ends on a high. And during the 13 weeks break I would probably suffer from withdrawal symptoms. To keep this fragile little mind sane, this blog shall henceforth, till the start of 05/06 season, be dedicated to player-transfer banter, my eventful pursuit for the new Samsung Mobile jersey, serious pondering on the name to print at the back of the jersey, details of my death-threats mailing sessions, random musings and much more. Also I must seriously analyse what went wrong with my fantasy league team. I must make a serious comeback, and maybe cast my prejudice aside and include one or two Man U players.

I'm still thinking if I should do what Kerry Dixon does on the official Chelsea site and reveal my bets and predictions for each Chelsea game. Starting capital would be $100. I might invite a fellow Chelsea fan to throw in his 2-cents worth. To be confirmed.

I shall announce my prediction (something I've never done before here) for our final game against Newcastle. We will win 1-3. Blues Forever!

Champions At Last

Winning the Premiership title must be the sole objective of any club. Why bother to remain at the top flight if the aim is not to be the absolute best? Chelsea, being a top English club and having little trophies to show for, has been tagged an “underachieving” club for most seasons. Therefore when the title was finally won at Bolton, it was both a relief and joy for Chelsea fans worldwide. Conquer domestically before worldwide domination. We have affirmed the fact that we are a new force to contend with in the Premiership with our recent triumph. Though the loss of a Champions League final place to Liverpool was a heartache, we are at least consoled by the fact that we are assured of an automatic place in next season’s competition. But the goal which killed us off never crossed the line. So we were robbed, and we lose in a semi-final for the 2nd year running.

Geremi has been particularly effective at right back. And he can fill Makelele’s role if the need arises. His strength and experience allows him to play a midfield role as well therefore he is a very useful utility player in my opinion. Sell Parker at the end of the season instead.

Liverpool will not be able to defend their CL title even if they win it as they can’t seem to cement the basic requirement of 4th placing in the domestic table. Their credibility as a “soccer powerhouse” in Europe is surely questioned and as a possible CL winner, they would no doubt be a one-hit wonder. Whereas on the domestic front, Chelsea would be fighting to defend the title, which we so convincingly won, next season. And at the same time we would be looking to win the CL trophy which has been so cruelly wrestled from our grasp.

May Chelsea’s reign at the top last for years to come. My blood is blue through and through.
