We Were Robbed

I personally cannot stomach the fact that Chelsea drew with Arsenal.. all because Henry took a quick free kick which somehow fell into the back of the net. That was absolutely disgusting. Petr Cech was still lining up his wall at the left goal post when the ball came flying through. How could the referee Graham Poll, in all fairness, allow that to happen? Was he involved in a gay orgy the previous night at a Pasir Ris apartment involving 2 bald headed bastards and their dads that he couldn't concentrate on today's game? Or did they take turns to cum into his eye that he is still temporary blinded and can't pass a good judgement?

Mr Poll explains he allowed the goal to stand as, he says, "Ya noe.. Arsenal being the impeded team that was fouled... blah blah.. should be given the advantage... blah blah blah... to take a quick one... blah blah.. my mother is a 3 dollar whore and moans like a wilder beast when she fucks my pet mongoose.... blah blah.. I stand by my decision...." Well The Rock says: IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT YOUR DECISION IS! You screwed Chelsea and cost us the fucking points and the chance to go 8 fucking points clear.

Enough on the referee and his faggot ways. We only look to our own improvement. But we do take note that this has been the 2nd time a referee had cost us points (earlier in the season against Aston Villa we were denied a clear penalty to win the game). Mourinho stuck to Gallas at LB and realised he was too unstable and so at half time: pushed him to CB to pair with Terry and replace Carvalho who has a broken toe and Bridge is introduced at LB taking over Gallas. He should have done this at the beginning of the game as suggested by myself (see previous blog). But midfield/attack wise Mourinho displayed true ingenuity by playing 5 midfielders including Tiago and in attack: a lone Gudjohnson. The flying wingers could provide forward support and yet perform midfield duties, tracking back when needed. Lampard, Makelele and Tiago overwhelmed Arsenal's Flamini/Fabregas combo. Except for the 1st min Henry goal, our defence had been solid and our movements throughout were fluid. If this tactic can hold Arsenal for length of the first half, I'm sure it can defeat any Premiership side.

But after all is said and done, we are still 5 points ahead. The next 2 home games against Norwich and Aston Villa should be a breeze, though our record against Villa had not been good. But I pity Norwich who will suffer our full backlash.

Critical London Derby

Kicking Arsenal's monkey ass out of the Champions League was the highlight of the last season for us. To repeat the feat at Highbury this coming weekend will be easy, if the same tactical approach is used. Players were not playing 100% for the game against Porto. There was no need to win it anyway. All concentration and fitness will be conserved for this clash, the best and most important one thus far in the season. Already 5 points ahead, a win will defintely see Arsenal at a severe disadvantage.

My winning XI:

Petr Cech - No arguments here. He's on form now.

Wayne Bridge - Gallas has been shaky at LB and to prevent any slip ups when it matters, Bridge's left boot will be more reliable. His link up with Duff has been impressive.

John Terry - Magnificent all season. The rock at the heart of Chelsea's defence.

Ricardo Carvalho - Gallas's height is a big disadvantage to settle incoming aerial crosses. Robert Huth will make a good substituition if necessary. Huth can take direct free kicks as well.

Paulo Ferreira - He plays a more defensive game than Glen Johnson and Gallas. Being aware of Arsenal's counter attacks is essential as not to be caught offguard by Pires or Henry.

Arjen Robben - A flying winger is needed to provide width. To provide good crosses, mesmerising dribbles into the box and earning fouls along the way.

Frank Lampard - He should be comfortable as Vieira is out with suspension. Accurate long passes/through balls is expected and zonal defence when needed.

Claude Makelele - His occasional slack play disturbs me. But Parker isn't ready.

Damien Duff - Impressive and intelligent play should earn him a place in the starting XI. But a more straight-forward tactical attacking option could be Smertin.

Eidur Gudjohnson - A scorer and provider. Great upper body strength. Kezman lack in stature as compared to Campbell and Cygan.

Didier Drogba - Good in the air and great physical presence. Should be back to hot scoring in this game.

Substitudes:
Cudicini, Tiago, Kezman, Huth, Smertin

Notes:
Joe Cole for me could play behind a lone striker but that place can be easily filled by Duff/Robben so he seems very redundant at this point. Tiago can be introduced if we are 1-2 goals up late in the game to play a more defensive game. Smertin can be introduced at the flanks to chase the game if we are a goal down and move Duff/Robben to join the forwards.

... And Rightfully So

November had been good to Chelsea.
Chelsea picked up enough points to secure a top placing and 5 points ahead of Arsenal. Also scoring a bagful of goals with several 4-0 wins, the month could only be made sweeter with Jose Mourinho being awarded Manager of the Month and Arjen Robben being awarded Player of the Month.

It takes a good tactician to bring out the best in players. Mourinho had masterminded yet another 4-0 win over Newcastle last weekend. This is a much needed boost of confidence ahead of the London derby next week against Arsenal. After scoring the penalty, Kezman would hopefully be more than composed and confident enough to start a scoring spree in the Premiership. Playing 2 forwards paid off with 4 goals against Newcastle and it seems the logical formation if Mourinho wants a good attack without relying too heavily on the Duff/Robben. Playing them supporting a lone striker may not work all the time and Premiership sides seem to have adapted and shut off the service from the 2 pacy players. Maybe one should be substituted by Smertin to provide a less forward and more tactical approach. Tiago played magnificently and very much forward for a very defensive midfielder. It could be due to Newcastle's non-existent defence though, to allow him space in front. However, the left back position should return to Wayne Bridge/Babayaro asap as Gallas looks nervous everytime he has the ball and I don't blame him as he isn't a left footer. Rotating him and Carvalho would be a good idea for players to rest and play in their preferred position. Same goes for Johnson/Ferreira. Actually the Duff/Bridge combo at the left flank last season worked pretty well and that can be considered as a possible formation. Makelele made far too many errors during the game and he should consider himself very nlucky to be involved in more games than he had.

Recommendations for midweek Champions League action: Cudicini, Gallas, Terry, Johnson, Bridge, Parker, Smertin, Lampard, Geremi, Kezman, Duff

Sub: Pidgeley, Huth, Tiago, Joe Cole, Drogba

A defensive team to allow Parker, Johnson, Cole and Smertin some European action.

If the last weekend's result was anything to go by, Arsenal would pose little problem.
