Next Destination: Cardiff

After stomping Portsmouth's ass flat 3-0 by halftime, Chelsea realised that there's no point in beating a donkey that's already dead. So we played defensively and at a slower more relaxed pace for the 2nd half and earned our three points. Kicking Man United's ass out of the Carling Cup also brings much satisfaction to an already exhilarating season. I caught this game at an unearthly 4am and then left for work in a zombie-like state.. it took me 3 Gold Roast coffee and 1 lunch break to recover half of my consciousness. Taking nothing away from Man U, they played like champions.. but there can be only one champion, which is The Blues. Our side fought hard and sucked up the pressure. Knowing that if we score, it will be an advantageous away goal. Hitting them on the counter attack and capitalising on their individual (credit to them, very few) errors, we left Man U one less trophy to worry about. Makelele, Tiago, Bridge, Gallas and Ferreira deserve special mentions. They were the ones working tirelessly throughout and are the unsung heroes who contributed to an outstanding solid defence. Overall it was a job very well done and it was worthed waking up early for. And as usual we look to our own improvement as we train for the weekend's FA Cup tie against Birmingham. I expect some regulars to be rested for this one.

Mind games are interesting as a fuel to ignite interest and spark emotion before a game. But Arsene Wenger doesn't know when to stop. The latest being Chelsea plays boring football and wearies out the opponent before killing them off. Jose Mourinho minds his own business and is immune to Wenger's immaturity. Fergie has more or less given up on mind games knowing that Mourinho would rather shit needles out his ass than to give a damn what Fergie thinks. Wenger's persistence to claw at Chelsea's team spirit and confidence is as amusing as it is sad. He knows the premiership title is beyond him, and it is on its way to Stamford Bridge as we speak.

Come on you blues.

10 Points Clear

Football managers work in intriguing ways. Some prefer to play negative football. Some "park a bus between the goalposts". Some instruct players to dive whenever possible and put pressure on referees during halftime. Some think they are good enough to leave smaller clubs for Newcastle. And finally some like to play mind games with the manager of the current league leader.

Jose Mourinho has survived most of the bullshit that other clubs' managers and players and even the press throw at him by focussing on his own game. He takes every game as they come and build the team from the back. Our defence has been rock solid with only 8 goals conceded and collecting 18 clean sheets along the way. Many questioned our 1-0 wins in the beginning but after the defence issues had been sorted out, and with Robben and Duff back from injuries, we are on hot scoring form and playing attractive football. Sitting pretty above everyone else has an advantage, because the title is ours to lose. If we focus on our game and win every single match, Wenger and Co. can try their hardest but still sniff our asses come end of the season.

A top class performance by Chelsea see us kill off Tottenham last weekend. Despite scoring 2 goals, I find Lampard's performance a little off as compared to his normal self. This can be seen especially during last week's Carling Cup tie against Man U where I felt his performance was way below par.

But what mattered most was the 2 goals, though my man-of-the-match would be John Terry. Sven Goran Eriksson must have been snorting too much cocaine off a stripper's tits to not select Terry for the national squad. Makelele is shaky at the start of the game with 3 to 4 terrible passes which at this level is absolutely unforgivable. Gudjohnson's 2nd half impact is undeniable and hopefully we can see him pair up with Drogba for some interesting strike partnership.

A wonderful loss to Bolton see Arsenal drop 10 points below Chelsea. Bolton are no Scunthorpe and they're not one to take crap from big clubs lying down. Even Wenger himself has conceded that the title is harder to get now with the large gap between the top 2 teams.

Resistance is futile. Chelsea fans worldwide rejoice, as the title has never felt closer since 1955.

P.S. Carlo Cudicini is not for sale

Tight Fixtures & Left Back Woes

Arsenal can be an irritating bug on our asses. Keeping pace with us and constantly closing up the 5 point gap is a difficult pressure to handle. And coupled with a mad 4 games in 10 days, slipping up could prove disastrous for us. Even a draw could enable Arsenal to close the gap even more given their winning ways during this Christmas period. However we have been doing well ourselves, with vital away wins against Liverpool and Portsmouth. Practically having to work our asses off to claim all 3 points against these tough opponents, which for the millionth time affirms the fact that we are genuine title contenders. Our rivals are steadily claiming points as well. Man U getting in form and Arsenal looking unstoppable, a home win against Boro will be what we need to be ahead of the pack. However we can at least be assured that Man U will have a tough fixture against high-scoring Spurs. But Arsenal looks set to mow over Man City.

Interesting point to note: Paulo Ferreira is playing at LB for the previous 2 games. He looks very unstable, worse than Gallas. But Bridge is still out so we have to make do with whatever resources that are available. Injuries to Smertin, Parker, Carvalho and Huth have yet to hamper our squad's performance. Injured Babayaro has also just moved to Newcastle though I would prefer to see him in Chelsea colors. Bridge would also better be seeing the Physio more often and goddamn be fit soon. However, a summer transfer is not really necessary in my opinion. Maybe we could see alot more of Geremi whose defensive instincts and presence may contribute greatly to our cause. And let Joe Cole play more in the starting XI especially in the Carling Cup.

Optimism: New training ground for a new year. In Your Face Wenger!

Happy New Year
